When I add pictures to a HTML mail message in Outlook 2007, they are automatically scaled, and quality-wise they look pretty bad.

How can I make Outlook display the pictures correctly, without transforming them? And if that isn't possible, what is a better way to email photos to friends and family?

All right, I installed Thunderbird and all is fine.

here it says, "I've discovered that the image only resizes if it's been directly imbedded into the Form. If you put the image in a fixed table it doesn't resize."

edit: Does this item, "disable image resize" get any closer to the target?

edit: Also see if Turning On and Off Automatic Image Resizing (about 2/3 of the way down) applies. It may not.

edit: Turning off the use of Word as Outlook's editor (and thus using Outlook's own one) may or may not work. Just an idea.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, when I insert a picture in a table cell, the picture is still distorted, even if I have set a fixed width on both table, column and cell. – Tor Hovland Jan 1 '09 at 11:59
I've tried turning off image resizing in IE, but it didn't have any effect. That is to be expected, as Outlook uses Word, not IE, as mail editor. Thanks anyway. I guess I'll have a look at Thunderbird or something. – Tor Hovland Jan 1 '09 at 17:16
