I would like to be able to access the hard drive on my PS3 from my PC via my home network. Does anyone know of a solution?

Try gaming.stackexchange.com also for gaming/ console questions. I've been browsing it the past few weeks, but just joined today. That community may be of some help. – Thomas Sep 22 '10 at 13:32
It might have been better to say "HDD". At first glance I was thinking "High Def" as that is what it usually stands for today. – John Isaacks Dec 15 '10 at 19:44

do you want to reach the PS3's internal HD? that's is impossible with an unhacked firmware.

if you want to reach your PC's there are multiple solutions based on DLNA.

You could install an OS such as Linux on the PS3, which would make the files accessible from your home computer if you configure the networking correctly.

That's the only suggestion I have. From there you should be able to modify/copy files from PS3 → Computer or vice versa.

This will only work if you haven't updated the PS3 in a good 3 years – Simon Sheehan May 5 at 23:04
Well, since the question is almost a good three years old.. – ekaj May 6 at 0:45
The function was already removed by the time this question was posted – Simon Sheehan May 6 at 5:10
You could just downgrade the OS. From what I have read on the net, this isn't even possible anymore, in any way. Unless you take the time to jailbreak / hack / something else to the PS3, which I have not found info for. – ekaj May 6 at 5:12
