Last night I was woken up by my cell phone taking pictures. I was half asleep, but when I looked it said something about download storage I think. I pushed the off button and then it started taking pictures again. It would take one, then store, then take one. I turned my phone off. I am afraid to turn it on again.

Does someone have the ability of hacking into my cell phone and taking random pictures than download them from my phone? I also have been getting a lot of weird calls lately from numbers I don't recognize but refuse to answer. Then I went on the Internet to check the numbers and others posted they have been getting a lot of calls from the same numbers, they answer and no one is there.

Anyone have any answers here? Thanks!

It's possible someone is hacking into your phone, though very unlikely. If it were being hacked, it's probably through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, if you have those. You can try turning those off. It also could be as simple as a stuck button, does the camera button (or whatever takes pictures) move in and out properly? Can you get it to stop?

You should ask your phone vendor about it and let them know what's going on, you might be able to get a replacement phone. You could also contact law enforcement, it sounds like these callers are harassing people -- are you on the national Do Not Call list?

If it was hacked and someone installed some sort of control software on it, the only way around it really is to factory reset the phone to it's original state, or get another phone.

Thanks Josh that was helpful. I will re-set my phone to the factory settings and call my cell company. I had called in to be on the national Do Not Call list, but I still get sales calls. Thanks again – dannala Sep 22 '10 at 16:04
Unfortunately, some unethical organizations use the Do Not Call list as a list of verified phone numbers. If it is on the list, it has been allocated to someone. – BillThor Sep 22 '10 at 16:10
