My machine has 4gb of Ram and I want that 3gb to be set only to a specific program. Can I set that?

Is this 32-bit or 64-bit XP? If the answer is 32-bit, there's no way to assign a single process more than 2GB, period, without some serious alterations to the kernel. If it's 64-bit, it's still pretty damned complicated but I believe there is 3rd party software to help you achieve that goal. Realistically, it's probably not worth your trouble in either case - if it's 64-bit, you're better off just adding RAM. – Shinrai Oct 8 '10 at 14:43
...I should add that if the software isn't compiled with large address awareness turned on, you can't get more than 2GB period. If it does you can try setting the /3GB flag, but it probably doesn't. Please update the question with specifics on the operating system and application you're trying to run. Thanks! – Shinrai Oct 8 '10 at 14:47
