is there anyway to do an image search for images that only have transparent backgrounds?

Pretty sure the answer is no as that would be to hard for a search engine to index... ...well probably not that hard if they tried, but I am not sure it would be worth the investment as I cannot imagine to many people needing that sort of service. You can try going here - http://images.google.com/advanced_image_search and changing file type to png or gif as that is your most likely bet. Also, maybe, try searching for words such as "transparent", "trans", e.t.c. as people may have named their files... but this will be luck more than anything and not very efficient.

I've found that Wikimedia Commons can sometimes produce some high quality searches using "svg" or "transparent" in the search.
