Very occasionally (but its happened several times) I've ended up in a situation where I have exposé activated - I have a bunch of tiny windows on screen - but I have keyboard focus in one of those windows and can type into it (rather than the keyboard doing things like selecting which window to use).

This seems like a nice feature to have, but I can't find any documentation. So is it a bug? Or does it really exist as a feature?

What version of Mac OS X are you using? I had that situation a few years ago on a 10.4-ish version. Not documented. – Daniel Beck Oct 13 '10 at 8:43
I just tried with a collection of windows on 10.6 (Safari, Finder, Mail, etc...) and wasn't able to reproduce the effect. In my case the keyboard is generally not effective in modifying the windows and allows only the arrow keys and return to select the active window. Beyond the version of OS X, what application specifically were you using? I was only able to give it a try with default OS X apps, so perhaps this is something that is not enabled in Apple apps, but is part of some 3rd party software. – dtlussier Oct 13 '10 at 13:49
You've answered you own question: any undocumented feature is a bug ;-) – trolle3000 Oct 14 '10 at 17:10
Terminal, on 10.5 (various micro-versions of) – Ben Clifford Oct 15 '10 at 7:51
