I'm trying to install python-crypt and the install goes alright, except it seems to think I've got python 2.7 installed for some reason. But i get this

INFO: using unknown version '/usr/bin/python2.7' (debian_defaults not up-to-date?)

I've looked at my debian_defaults under /usr/share/python and there isn't any mention of 2.7 there, so I'm very confused.

That you're not finding 2.7 is probably the problem. "using unknown version". – Daniel Beck Oct 22 '10 at 10:57
I have removed python2.7 because I want this installed in 2.6. Everything else I use is installed into 2.6. – dutt Oct 22 '10 at 11:18
