It came with 4GB and this is not enough for me; I would like to max it out.

A) How do I find out whether I have a single 4GB memory card, or 2 x 2 or other?
B) What is the max that my laptop can hold?
C) Where is a good place to buy it cheaply?

I am looking at a choice of:

  • DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) (3)
  • DDR3 1333 (PC3 10660) (1)
  • DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) (4)

What is the difference, and which is better (assuming the same price) if one can be better than another.

Looking at the following site http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6700956&CatId=4938 I would the answers to your question.

  • A. You have 2 x 2GB of memory
  • b. Your laptop can hold up to 8GB of memory.
  • C. I would buy 2 x 4GB DDR3 1333MHz laptop memory (due to only having two slots) from Newegg.com

thanks, please see my edit. I could not narrow it down to choices I was comfortable with. – Fantomas Nov 4 '10 at 23:14
Looking at newegg.com/Product/…-20-231-295--Product and newegg.com/Product/…-20-231-342--Product both will fit your laptop. Both will seem relatively the same to what you will be able to notice, but since the prices are the same, I would choose the 10666 RAM (the first one) just becuase it will give a slightly better edge. If you need anything else, just comment. -Good Luck – David Nov 5 '10 at 12:47
I forgot to add something on that note. Remember, someimtes your computer may not recognize the RAM as 10666 RAM. It may recognize it as 10600 RAM. I chose for you to get the 10666 RAM because it is the same price, and there might be a feature on your motherboard, or you might have to raise the voltage to the RAM, in order for you computer to think it has 10666 RAM. – David Nov 5 '10 at 14:34
thanks, so ... what do 10666 and 10600 mean? – Fantomas Nov 6 '10 at 16:45
