I bought an acer aspire 5742-7653. Formatted, but now on the driver's website they are offering multiple drivers for 1 device. How do I know which brand made my device? For example, there are 2 brands for my touchpad, synaptics and elantech. How do I know which is the correct one? Nothing shows up in my device manager about the brands.

Checking the HWID in google can have pleasing results

in device manager -> Rclick on the ? device ->properties...don't remember which tab. seems like it was under an advanced button – aking1012 Nov 12 '10 at 20:31

look at your user manual to see which touchpad you've got ;)
