Can anyone tell me what kind of cable / connector this is and where I might buy another one? It connects the IR receiver to the motherboard on my AppleTV. The receiver is recognized as a USB device but I can't find any cables that look like this one.

It's just a flat pin header connector, which you can find at any electronics store, like Maplin in the UK (maybe Tandy in the US?).

Er, I meant RadioShack. – paradroid Nov 14 '10 at 0:24
radioshack is not very good for components these days, they have gone more into the gadget business. – MaQleod Nov 14 '10 at 6:01

It's probably a custom 8-pin connector that could be used for any 8-pin connections. This so happens to connect a USB device. Why do you need a replacement?

The connector on the side of the cable that attaches to the motherboard broke while disassembling the device. Ideally I would like information on how to wire it to a USB port on a different motherboard, but I figured I could find that myself if the connector had a name. – njbooher Nov 14 '10 at 0:59
