I'm having some issues with my computer and started using the Ultimate Boot CD (for Windows) to help run some diagnostics and figure out what's going on. I've also played with the linux based version. The UBCD is full of great tools that I'm sure would be useful for far more than what I'm doing right now. The problem is there are SOOOO many apps that I just don't know anything about. I've started to google individual tools that look interesting, but it's tough to even tell what's on the disc. The website is pretty out of date too by the looks of the feature list (it has a disclaimer saying it's out of date...). Beyond that, google results for the tools haven't been all that helpful yet.

Does anyone know of another site that has a guide for using UBCD (or maybe even other boot discs)? This seems like a great tool and I really want to learn how to take full advantage.

Thanks studiohack, a nice intro. I was hoping for something more detailed though. A more comprehensive list of available programs would be a great start. At least that way it'd be easier to see what's there and learn about each tool separately – Chaulky Nov 17 '10 at 2:00
@Chaulky: see the "Tools" page: ubcd4win.com/contents.htm – studiohack Nov 17 '10 at 2:26
Right, but it's been out of date for over a year – Chaulky Nov 17 '10 at 2:35
@Chaulky: that seems to be the most comprehensive, up-to-date list...sorry I can't be of further use... – studiohack Nov 17 '10 at 2:39
The guide you linked was still somewhat helpful, so thanks for that. I'll just have to learn it the hard way. – Chaulky Nov 17 '10 at 15:07
