I am trying to improve my English, so I need a audio player which:

  • supports access key to jump forward and back, with adjustable steps
  • pauses after current track is finished, not stops nor plays next audio track.

If I can't find one, I may need to write one myself.

The first is fairly easy, but I've not seen one that has the second. – Ignacio Vazquez-Abrams Nov 21 '10 at 1:48

any particular OS in mind? and any particular reason you need it to pause and not stop – MaQleod Nov 21 '10 at 2:33
I need it to pause at the end of track because usually I want to re-listen the last sentence for 2 or 3 times. – ablmf Nov 25 '10 at 0:25

A quick Google search (now that we know what you're looking for) turns up something that might be useful.

I don't know if it can do what you require but foobar2000 is the most customizable audio player that I know of.

cmus has both of those features. However, it is meant for Linux, but may work for Windows with cygwin. It is also console-based so it may have a slight learning curve to it. But once you get used to it, it's a breeze. I use it on a daily basis and love it.
