You really don't need to worry about viruses on osx

This is untrue and unhelpful. Mac OS stands as much of a risk being infected as a Windows machine. – Randolph West Nov 24 '10 at 20:22

@Randolph That depends on how you define "risk". While I don't subscribe to the "Mac OS X is immune from viruses rhetoric", the reality is that the vast majority of Mac users run no antivirus, and yet malware infections on OS X are slight to nonexistent in the wild. Take that as you will. – phoebus Nov 24 '10 at 20:31
While infections are slight, this is more to do with the number of Windows machines out there and less to do with the security of the Mac platform. Mac OS is still at risk from infection from malware. So I guess I agree with you to some extent, but I will not remove my downvote on this answer. – Randolph West Nov 24 '10 at 21:04
I see where both of you are coming from. I simply meant that as both a pc and mac user, I have yet to get a virus on osx but many on pc. I was simply saying that viruses don't pose as much of a threat – RCProgramming Nov 25 '10 at 1:42
