I'm looking into getting a wireless headset. It'll be mostly used for gaming. Audio quality is important, but it doesn't need to be extremely great or anything. I checked for the highest rated wireless headsets on NewEgg, and the top three differ by as much as $100 from each other (link).

Could somebody please answer the following questions:

  1. Why such a high difference in price? The only difference I can see there is in the "features" rhetoric.

  2. Would I really notice a difference between the three sets? Is the high end logitech one worth it?

  3. Is there a better option out there? I prize value above all else. I don't mind paying a little more if it's worth it, but I like to get good bang for my buck.

Well, the Creative and Logitech headsets offer various sound enhancement features (such as X-Fi software and Alchemy support for Creative and a 7.1 Dolby Surround decoder for Logitech). Also in the case of the Logitech set it looks like the cushioning would sit more around the ear rather than on it, which along with the more substantial padding on the band may make them more comfortable for extended use (personal mileage will vary)

The largest expense version seems to be that it emulates dolby 7.1....my 2 cents, ASUS makes good stuff, but they don't note noise cancellation. I live in a quiet neighborhood so this is great 4 me. If you live in a noisy area I would go middle of the road for the noise cancellation ability. I personally don't want or need 7.1 out of headphones....just my 2 cents
