Is there a Chrome plugin to create separate session in a tab?

Question

Say I wanted to login to two gmail accounts. I could have one tab that has it's own session, and another tab that has another isolated session. I understand Gmail has this feature for managing multiple accounts now, but I think the implementation is kind of lame. I'd much rather just keep two tabs open and manage two separate sessions.

I can see this being useful for other sites as well.

Does anyone know how to accomplish this easily?

I'm familiar with Incognito Mode, but this sucks for three reasons.

• two separate windows sucks compared to two tabs in one window

• incognito sessions are shared across other incognito windows, meaning you can only have up to one additional session.

• not all other browser extensions are available in incognito windows (nor do you want them)

This just really isn't incognito's intended purpose...

Currently, this is not possible.

You can use multiple profiles in Google Chrome, though. Read the instructions here.

Chrome only has The Incognito mode as a solution, which allows only 2 logins.

A stopgap measure is maybe the extension Quick Login for Google Accounts, to quickly switch between Google Accounts.

I believe that a complete solution can only be found on Firefox with the Multifox extension:

Multifox is an extension that allows Firefox to connect to websites using different user names. Simultaneously!

For example, if you have multiple Gmail accounts, you can open them all at the same time. Each Firefox window, managed by Multifox, accesses an account without interfering with each other.

Another Firefox extension is CookiePie, where maybe you should keep an eye on, since the developer does say :

CookiePie is a Firefox/Flock/GNU IceWeasel extension that enables you to maintain different cookies storage in different tabs and windows.

Currently unsupported (mainly in new Firefox & Gmail versions).
Working on a more stable Google Chrome contribution.

The New Chrome Session plugin ( http://www.musatcha.com/software/NewChromeSession/ ) is quite useful, however it has two down sides:

• The tabs can't be in the same window. They have to be different windows.
• It's full of spyware.

To disable spyware, after install open C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\CRE. Find the file in there "pacgpkgadgmibnhpdidcnfafllnmeomc.crx" and copy the full file name including the .crx. Delete it. Create a new empty document, and rename it to the full name you just copied. Go to the properties and make it read only. You can now continue using chrome without having random toolbars installed.

So after being frustrated that such a simple plugin didn't exist, I made one. It is called New Chrome Session.

This puts a button right on your Chrome toolbar that launches a completely blank session, which tracks its own cookies and what not.

You can use this to login to multiple accounts simultaneously. It works great for Gmail and Facebook, as well as sites using basic auth. It should work for everything.

The only catch that I can see is that you can't use both within the same window. I don't think there is a way around this.
