In a normal formating, footnote separator length only 3", but in some of my pages it appears longer than that, from the edge of left margin to the right margin. How do I format it backto the short line one? Thanks

Do you have footers in addition to footnotes? Are the separators consistently one way on odd pages and the other on even (or perhaps it varies by whether the difference occurs only on the first page of the document, section or chapter)? Do you have long footnotes that are continued to the next page? More info please. – Dennis Williamson Dec 6 '10 at 18:08
