My boss just offered to buy me a mouse for work and I'm picky. Here's what I'm looking for in order of importance:

  1. not tiny
  2. is smoothly and easily pushed over the track pad (basically all non-Apple mice)
  3. tracking needs to be accurate, not jumpy
  4. vertical scrolling should be smooth and work well with OS X
  5. 4-buttons minimum, 5 preferred
  6. wired would be preferable
  7. horizontal scrolling but only if it works well with OS X

I'm also intending to get the Razor Goliathus Control Edition to go with it. I have an older version that I love.

So, not sure if this is okay on SU. Feels a bit too specific to me. – donut Dec 8 '10 at 1:32
Close, but no cigar. It would be closed on grounds of asking for shopping advice. /copattitude – digitxp Dec 8 '10 at 2:05
No badge for first closed question? So disappointed... Sorry for the spam. – donut Dec 13 '10 at 20:29
For what it's worth I'm getting a Cyborg R.A.T. 7. Mac compatibility is really poor but it apparently works great with utilities like USB Overdrive. Overall the reviews were good and it sounds more reliable than those from Razer. Plus it looks like a tiny Tumbler. – donut Dec 21 '10 at 4:10

I've had good luck with the Logitech VX Revolution and the "USB Overdrive" driver-set. Unfortunately that model of mouse is discontinued.
