Reduce (improper fraction) all of those fractions down to 24ths (common denominator), then add them together

2 3/4 = 66/24

4 5/6 = 116/34

1 3/8 = 33/24

66/24 + 116/24 + 33/24 = 215/24

215/24 = 8 23/24

Not so hard.
