I'm using:

  • Latest version of Windows XP with all updates/patches.
  • Latest version of RealVNC for my Windows XP box.
  • Latest version of RealVNC app for the iPhone.

What would cause method #1 to work flawlessly for years... but when we switch to method #2... I can never connect my iPhone to my home computer.

Method #1

  • ASUS WL-520GU wireless router has port-forwarding set up.
  • My Windows XP machine has the correct port open for the firewall.
  • "DynDNS Updater" is handling my ever-changing dynamic IP address.
  • BrightHouse Cable modem.

Method #2

  • All of the above... but we dropped the Cable modem and installed AT&T DSL 2701HG-B router.

My iPhone can now never connect to my home computer any more.

Does your router have the correct port forwarded / open? – Joe Taylor Dec 18 '10 at 0:01
The wireless router? Unchanged. Do I have to also route the AT&T DSL router? – Sandy Dec 18 '10 at 4:26
