I try to play files from Vuze Media Server plugin with WMP, unfortunately it seems to start downloading a large chunk of file and gives no playback; not sure if it even will work.

Need a free/open alternative, with built-in media browser (Explorer just starts WMP).

Got XBMC, works almost fine with Vuze and deserves some hacking too.

I use Orb on my Windows 7 system. It is a DLNA server, and you browse your media files using your web browser.
