Is there a good reason it can't be?

If you take a gander at user reports and reviews on the web, or have tried a bluetooth headset yourself, you'll probably know that bluetooth is notorious for connection and range problems to the point of being nearly unusable.

Yes it often is reliable. It mostly depends on the median it is traveling through and how far it has to travel. The quality of the transmitter/receiver has a little to do with it but not enough to affect it greatly.
