Can someone recommend me a good quality Microphone headset for a PC that would equally good for using Skype or listening to music.

This logitech headset is similar to what I'm after. But less expensive

I'm a big fan of my newly acquired Logitech Clearchat Comfort USB.

Only complaint is that they are kind of small so they press against your ears. Took a bit to get use to, but sound quality wise they were fine. – Chris Bartow Aug 14 '09 at 2:33
Usually by the time they start getting uncomfortable to me, its time to quit anyway ;). – jtimberman Aug 14 '09 at 4:37

Turtle beach Ear Force X-52's are what I'm using right now. Can't complain.

The Tutle beach ones look nice. I'm very tempted to go for one of their wireless models turtlebeach.com/products/efx4/home.aspx – SuperFurryToad Aug 13 '09 at 18:52
They make great headsets. I use them for call of duty as well, can't go wrong. – John T Aug 13 '09 at 18:59
Price is good too, that's why I like them. I tend to break headsets, so I like something I can replace once in a while without breaking the bank too. – JP. Aug 13 '09 at 22:17
Anything that calls itself 'Ear force' just sounds like pure awesome. ;-) – Dan Esparza Aug 14 '09 at 15:56

I'm a fan of the SteelSeries 4H headset. I got them dirt cheap off woot! a few years ago (late 2007) and have loved them. The sound is full, the "coconut halves" fit comfortably around my ears, and they're the only pair of over-ear headphones I can wear for long periods of time.

They sport an in-line volume control with mic sensitivity slider. The volume control is exactly what you'd expect, and the sensitivity slider moved between "HI", "LO", and "OFF", setting the mic to high sensitivity, low sensitivity, and mute.

A unique feature is that the mic slides up into the the earpieces, so you can use them as normal headphones without the mic getting in the way.

The mic was nothing great. It was good for Skype with friends or online gaming, but wasn't anywhere near good enough for podcasting or other serious sound recording.

They connect via standard 3/8" audio connectors for both the mic and headphones, making them nice to use with a laptop.

My biggest issue with them is that my PC doesn't feature front-mounted headphone jacks, so I need to crawl around on the floor to switch from speakers to headphones.

Personally, I like Turtle Beach good quality at good prices. I use these specifically and recommend them.

Interesting, newegg costs a fair bit less. They must buy huge bulk amounts or retailers get crazy discounts. Great headset though. – John T Aug 13 '09 at 18:37

I'm a fan of the Logitech Notebook headset (Amazon link). Quite comfortable, great sound (I use it primarily for Skype), and it's foldable and comes with a nice case.

I recommend the Lifechat LX-3000.

At least for me, they work great for gaming, listening to music, etc. The last time I used the mic it was pretty good too.

I've read good stuff about this one. But I'm worried it might be too small. Doesn't it press against your years? – Bruce Connor Oct 13 '10 at 19:49
@Bruce: Nope. It served me quite well till one of the slider mechanisms broke on the right headphone (causing that end to slide off). But don't worry, that was just because they were very well used :) – RCIX Oct 17 '10 at 7:04

I use the Logitech Premium Notebook headset. I like it because it is quite comfortable and the audio quality is pretty decent. A bit pricey at $60.

Though, I usually love Logitech's stuff, I would have to recommend against getting these...

Whether you hate or love how they look...

Although they sound decent, and the mic works well, they are't great for extended periods of usage.....such as gaming. They can be especially uncomfortable if you wear glasses as they tend to squish your ears against the bows.

Unfortunately I bought a pair of those about 2 years ago. Big mistake. My current set is a LifeChat LX-3000 which performed well enough until the wire broke last week. – SuperFurryToad Aug 13 '09 at 19:59
