VMWare player works well for me. It doesn't create new VMs, but http://www.easyvmx.com/ will for you, and then you just tell VMWare player to open that file and you're on your way. It's leaner than Server and doesn't cost money like Workstation. I've heard very good things about Virtual Box and I've heard some bad things, so I can only speak from my experience with VMWare products. | |||

I've had better luck with VMware Server on Linux than I did with VirtualBox on Windows. Better networking, better performance, better reliability. Every now and then VirtualBox would stop working for me (occasionally VM wouldn't start up without rebooting host, or networking would stop working), but VMware has been solid. I am spending much more time with VMware than I did with VirtualBox, so it could just be that I'm using it better and/or getting better with virtualization in general. | |||
