On a widescreen monitor the win+<- and win+-> hotkeys for maximizing windows to the left/right half of the screen becomes quite handy when e.g. TeXing and viewing the corresponding pdf at the same time. However if I alt+tab to a different window, I'd like to have both windows brought to the foreground when switching back to one of them, is this somehow possible?

i don't know of a way, I just put them on a separate workspace – aking1012 Jan 12 '11 at 8:28
@aking1012: you mean virtual desktops? yeah, that's my current solution, too, but I'm always forgetting which desktop which application is on... – Tobias Kienzler Jan 12 '11 at 8:31
