Recently I bought a car witch I am going to pay off for many years in future. Now I am looking for some good security system for it.

I am considering to build in some GPS/GPRS device with fleet management and tracing options. But there is many options how I cloud do it, Ill mention some of them and also ask you Do you secure yours car with GPS/GPRS devices and how ? I also have an idea to sale that technology at begin in company where I work and lately for third parties buyers.

Variants are as following

  1. I can by it at local Fleet Provider, but I am not a guy who just pay for something I like to challenge myself and to do things on my way also I do not want to pay monthly fee for it.

  2. I can by GPS/GPRS dedicated device and do it but I did not have a lock with support for that kind of devices. Is there some good and tested world wide supplier for equipment like this ?

  3. I can build in Symbian OS mobile phone with software for tracking it, But I do not know how is that combination can be stable.

  4. I can also build in Win 6 mobile phone and begin making my own .NET software but I thing that is going to take a lot of my free time. If already exist some good app for my problem please give me direction ?

Thank advance

Hardly computer related, even if you leave "computer related" things in your car. – Gnoupi Aug 17 at 10:04
At best, it would be "programming related", with the last 2 points. – Gnoupi Aug 17 at 10:05
I do not think the title of your post corresponds to your question. The title should be “How to secure your car”, because some superusers probably do not care about securing their cars… – smok1 Aug 17 at 10:07
I do not aggre that this is question is not computer related but never mind – adopilot Aug 17 at 10:13

The simplest protection would be by buying a car that's not interesting enough to steal, yet easy to recognise. (For example, a red car with white stripes on it.) Also, don't keep anything valuable in your car, not even an anti-theft system since someone might decide to steal your anti-theft device because they don't recognise what it is, yet think it's some valuable electronic device. – Workshop Alex Aug 17 at 11:10
