Will a Windows 7 recovery CD repair an XP MBR?

Question

Will a Windows 7 recovery CD repair a Windows XP MBR? Can I run fdisk /mbr or chkdsk on an XP install from a Windows 7 recovery CD?

As far as I know Vista changed the boot scheme.

Oops if you read my answer please diregard as I misread your question. The answer is a definitive no, you must use an XP disk
