How can I get the metadata such as Frame rate, resolution, audio and video bitrate from a video? Is there a specific software that can tell this. Or can this be obtained from players like VLC and Media Player Classic.

Most players will have a way of giving this information. It may also be provided by the OS, depending on which one you are using (Windows 7 shows it in the status pane).

In any case, what you can do is to install a shell-extension like MediaInfo to give you this information on demand.

I use Super software for this, is shows everything about a media file and can covert it to other formats.

Direct download link http://www.erightsoft.org/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe

Drag the file to the lower pane of the software

.

Then double click the file in the lower pane to see the file properties, it also has an extended analysis feature which gives much more information, looks like it uses the mediainfo website to gather this info.
