I just bought a Belkin F5U701-BLK 7-port USB Hub and when I plug it into my iMac it does not seem to recognize it. Do I need to reboot my machine or install a driver? If I have to install a driver where do I get it from? I tried going to Belkin's website to search for drivers and and support info for the hub but I could not find anything.

Edit: The USB hub is powering the other devices but my iMac does not recognize both hard drives.

Have you tried another USB port? Does another device work in the same USB port? Will the iMac recognize any other kinds of devices (flash drive, camera, f/ex) in the hub? Have you tried rebooting the iMac? Have you tried this hub in another computer? – JRobert Feb 5 '11 at 23:26
USB hubs don't need drivers. Is the hub plugged in to a power outlet, or is it bus-powered? If it's bus-powered, the bus may not supply enough power for hard drives. – squircle Feb 5 '11 at 23:48
Run System Profiler (it's in /Applications/Utilities), and select Hardware > USB from the sidebar. This will display a map of everything the Mac sees attached to its various USB interfaces -- does the hub show up? Try plugging it into different ports (and then select Refresh from the View menu) to see if you can get it to appear. – Gordon Davisson Feb 6 '11 at 6:15
