I study linguistics and I need a large collection of spoken English texts.

I can download subtitles one by one [from one of the subtitle sites] manually [it would take months], but is there a way to download all the subtitles at once anywhere?

In many countries subtitles are illegal. Anyway, from some torrent sites you can find huge subtitle packages. – Olli Feb 11 '11 at 10:27
@Olli Never saw anything huge on any torrent. May you give a clue on what search phrases were you able to find any large subtitle collection? Actually I saw a collection in arabic once, but never in English. – EugeneP Feb 11 '11 at 10:34
Also, subtitles themselves is just a means for deaf people to be able to understand the movie. Or for linguists to analyze the language. – EugeneP Feb 11 '11 at 10:37

Distributing subtitles without permission is as much copyright infringement as distributing song lyrics without permission. – Daniel Beck Feb 11 '11 at 10:44
Get a real corpus for your studies, like the British National Corpus, the Corpus of Contemporary American English, or something like that. They have parts marked as spoken text, use those. – Daniel Beck Feb 11 '11 at 10:46
