I see a number of references to forcing the virtual keyboard to appear by holding down the Menu Key. This does not work for me or anyone I have talked with. What is required to make this function work?

On my HTC Magic ("MyTouch 3G" for you americans) long pressing Menu does bring up the virtual keyboard.

I think you will get a better response if you tell us which phone you use.

I'm using a G1, and it does not work. Is there any other way?
