I have used a combination of MalwareBytes, Search and Destroy, and AdAware pretty successfully for the past few years to get rid of any spyware. Malwarebytes is my everyday scanner, with the other two running only once a week. There isn't much if anything left over after Malwarebytes is done scanning though.

I run Malwarebytes daily and SuperAntiSpyware as a second opinion on weekly basis.

From the programs I've used professionally to do quick removal of any and all malware I recommend:
These programs usually do the trick. If you can't login, then it's time to pop in UBCD4WIN.

Windows Defender. Not a bad product IMHO.

Another vote for malwarebytes, it's pretty rare that running that in safe mode doesn't kill spyware off.

I find LifeHacker usually has some good stuff when it comes to "best of" particular program groups.

I am using Avast, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avast!. It is free for home use (but must be registered after the trial period). Avast incorporates anti-spyware technology. I have found it to be non-intrusive (in contrast to Sophos - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophos_Anti-Virus).

I like Spybot Search&Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/ It has got some cool features, like showing your installed Layered Service Providers (to see it, turn advanced mode in main menu).
