I'm advising an office where the only way to get on the Internet is through the locked down corporate LAN. They have some vendors coming in who need to get on the Internet, so they need a short term solution to provide them internet access.

This is near Glendale, CA.

Does anyone have any examples of hosting providers who can supply a 3G or 4G connection seamlessly into a router which can then share it to the vendors? Preferably something that can be temporary, ie not needing to sign up for a 1 or 2 year contract. Also, I won't be on site so it would probably need to be setup by someone with limited technical experience. So I'm looking for a simple plug and play solution.

Also, does anyone have any other ideas that I'm not considering here?

Off topic? I don't see how this isn't a question about the vaguely defined "computer hardware". I'm looking for a hardware solution to get Internet Access in a specific (yet plausible) situation. Sounds like superuser to me, is there a better stackexchange site for this? – user30752 Feb 25 '11 at 17:38

Questions on Super User are expected to generally relate to computer software or computer hardware, within the scope defined in the faq.

An easy solution is to put a WiFi access point between the modem/router to the ISP and the company firewall.

Hadn't even crossed my mind, good idea. Although I have concerns the "security" people won't go for anything like that. I'll keep it open to see if anyone else has other suggestions which could run without touching any of the current office equipment. – user30752 Feb 25 '11 at 16:06
I am a security IT guy myself, and as long as you put it between your firewall and the router I don't see any big security issues. Even better would be to have two firewalls, one external behind the modem/router, then the WiFi access point, and then the internal firewall. If you need this type of access, and you don't want to pay a 2nd connection, this is a good solution. – rems Feb 25 '11 at 16:13
