how can I change the default role of new users in WordPress Multisite mode?

Under the heading "Things You Need to Know", the documentation states that every user of a network will have subscriber rights for all sites on the network. Basically, there is only one role, so there isn't anything to change the default to. There are some options, such as whether to enable admin menus and whether to allow site administrators to add new users, that can be set under the tools in network admin. | |||
