I have a 2TB Toshiba StoreArt external hard disk that is recognized on some computers. For example, my Hp 8530W, my Clevo ML85RU, and my desktop recognize it without a problem, however my HP 8540W doesn't. I've tried it on a Vaio and an Acer, and they didn't see it either. All the above computers are running Windows 7 x64. The hard disk doesn't show up on Disk Management either.

Thanks.

Are there any differences with the computers that it works on and the ones it doesn't work on? – Kyle Feb 28 '11 at 16:09
try this, on the problem computer connect a usb hub to the PC, then connect the StoreArt to the hub, see if it is recognized now. – Moab Feb 28 '11 at 17:12
Well, the set ups are all different though the main difference is that the ones that the hard disk doesn't work have i series (i5 Acer and i7 HP) processors, so their mainboards are newer. The other two, the Clevo and my desktop have Core2 Duo, as they are a bit older. I haven't tried Moab's advice - need to buy a USB hub. – Rasim Mar 1 '11 at 11:52
