Kazam Screencaster is a great program in my opinion. Sometimes it has trouble with audio (but also the thing I am recording can have issues which happens more often than Kazam having issues) and it works directly with Open Shot Video Editor in Ubuntu. I run Ubuntu 11.10 and its absolutely fantastic. I use it to capture my Vokle.com shows to edit and shorten for my YouTube Channel. Update (June 20, 2012) Kazam has a few bugs with the recent update and is being very problematic. I'll be sticking it out to see if/when it gets fixed. The problem is it crashes and/or stops running after just a few minutes as opposed to running for hours and hours like it used to. That said, if you are doing short clips it will still work amazingly well. |

You can try xvidcap, an open source screen capture tool for Linux. I have not used it so I can't vouch for how well it works. |

There aren't many alternatives for Linux, especially when it comes to editing recorded video. You can try and choose for your self from this list. |
