What is a free, downloadable, good image editor which is light enough to run on a netbook? Please include supported operating systems and key features.

GIMP

GIMP has multi platform support for Windows, Linux and Mac.

Any heavyweight image editor will tax a netbook's limited resources. GIMP on Windows is a little slower than GIMP on *nix. – Broam Aug 8 '11 at 18:36

How about Photofiltre. I use it on my MSI Wind.

PhotoFiltre is a complete image retouching program. It allows you to do simple or advanced adjustments to an image and apply a vast range of filters on it. It is simple and intuitive to use, and has an easy learning curve. The toolbar, giving you access to the standard filters with just a few clicks, gives PhotoFiltre a robust look.

If you don't want to install it, download the portable french version (zip file) and then download the english language pack and copy into the unzipped photofiltre folder.
