Can you please provide details: Router model, connection type (wired / wifi), is there a switch between you and the router, etc. – Majenko Mar 8 '11 at 13:27

@Matt: I have a wired Broadband connection, with a dialer provided by the service provider, most of the times,at disconnection, it gives hardware error in cmd on pinging, And we have a Switch board for broadband at some distant place nearby. – parmanand Mar 8 '11 at 15:40
Do you still have internal connectivity when it goes down or is it a problem you have localized to that specific PC? – Kyle Mar 8 '11 at 15:45
Is it a router that has been provided by the service provider or a bridge? If it's a bridge then your computer will be initiating the broadband connection a-la Dialup Connection. If it's a router then you should never see any dialling going on. – Majenko Mar 8 '11 at 16:27
