Can anyone recommend software (to install and run locally) to create a virtual tour of a location (such as those used by real estate agents to display a home) out of still images?

You're looking for something like Microsoft Photosynth.

Photosynth takes your photos, mashes them together and recreates a 3D scene out of them that anyone can view and move around in.
