I'm currently obsessed with finding a wallpaper for everyday use.

95% of my MacBook Pro's screen is covered with windows for 99% of the time. The only visible portion of the wallpaper is around the edge, and under the menu bar.

What are some types of wallpapers that are optimized for this condition? Pointers to an established genre for this type of wallpaper, or an article featuring such wallpapers are welcome.

I like nature wallpapers. If you choose the right ones (rather plain, smooth textures), there is little distraction from your work. So, no Golden Palace, Clown Fish or Snow Leopard (default OS X wallpaper names), but Snowy Hills, Water, or Iceberg -- maybe Summit. Unfortunately, I'm afraid this question is off topic and very subjective. – Daniel Beck Mar 13 '11 at 11:11

Is this a serious question? – joeqwerty Mar 13 '11 at 11:52
It still is off topic. This is neither about software, nor hardware. – Daniel Beck Mar 13 '11 at 13:23
@Daniel Thanks for the suggestion. For posterity's sake, what is the difference between this question and superuser.com/questions/77095/… regarding the on-topicness? – ento Mar 13 '11 at 13:26
@joeqwerty In all honesty, yes. (I'm asked that question more than infrequently =) – ento Mar 13 '11 at 13:28

Questions on Super User are expected to generally relate to computer software or computer hardware, within the scope defined in the faq.

For a wallpaper that is mostly only visible in random bits an pieces I would think a simple texture of some kind would be optimal, since it wouldn't depend on what part you saw.
