My computer has an ATI Radeon 4350 graphics card and runs Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate. If any programs are running and I start to play any game, the game is forced to minimize to the taskbar. When I try to maximize it, it's forced to minimize again. When no other programs are running, games work normally. What's the problem, and how can I fix it?

Does it minimize immediately after trying to maximize it or does it minimize after you do something? – private_meta Mar 14 '11 at 12:58

This is not the normal behavior on Windows 7 machines. Might it be a specific application you have running that is attempting to steal the focus? – Paul Lammertsma Mar 14 '11 at 16:14
Suggestion by user78438 - I dont know the exact details, but the solution is to right click the application/shortcut, go to compatibility tab, and check "disable themes" and "desktop composition " boxes.this normally solves it. I found this solution after my computer graphics instructor at college showed us this as a fix to Bryce 7.1 spazzing. – Sathya Apr 26 '11 at 16:45
