I recently learned colemak and I'm up to 30-40 wpm with it, but I noticed I can no longer type in QWERTY. What the hell? I keep getting them all confused and my qwerty WPM fell from 100 to about 20. I stumble every few letters and can't remember which button to press anymore. Then after typing a URL or something in qwerty, it takes me like an hour to recover and get my speed up in colemak again. Please advise. This basically renders my typing skills useless.

I wish I didn't have to switch, but I prefer colemak and use it work, but I share a computer at home so it must be in qwerty.

Any suggestions on how to separate them in my mind would be greatly appeciated.

What OS are you using at home? Set up a simple macro or something on the desktop that allows the keybindings to be reconfigured quickly. Don't multiple accounts maintain multiple keybindings in Windows? – jcolebrand Mar 14 '11 at 16:36
I hate to say it, because this is a good question, but this is off-topic. Even though a computer issue led to your post, it's ultimately a biology/psychology question. – Lord Torgamus Mar 14 '11 at 16:38
@LordTorgamus is right, this post is also subjective and difficult to answer correctly, as everyone is different... – studiohack Mar 14 '11 at 17:01
