I have a 3g stick that supplies internet to one of two laptops I have. It comes with an operator software through which I connect. It appears under Network Connections as another connection, but instead of the usual WiFi bars there's an icon of a telephone.

I'm able to establish an ad-hoc network with my other laptop. I'm trying to share the internet from the 3g stick with my other laptop.

This is not straight forward as:

  • If I try to bridge the connections I have to mark both of them in Network Connection, but then when I right click all the options are greyed out
  • If I right-click on the 3g network \ properties \ Sharing tab - and choose "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection - then I can choose from a drop down menu which connection should I share the internet with - the ad-hoc network does not appear in that list

How do I share the Internet between these two laptops?
One of them has an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN, the other has a Dell Wireless 1520 Wireless-N WLAN Mini-Card
