I'm buying new PC's for a bunch of programmers; speed is important. I'm trying to decide between Optiplex 980 (core i5 650) and Vostro (some Sandy Bridge i3 or i5).

The prices are similar, but the Sandy Bridge CPU's are way faster than the 1st-gen core i CPU's. So I should get the Vostro... unless the Optiplexes are just made better. Are they?

Anybody know the answer?
