Would it possible to use another laptop's LCD inverter on another model laptop?

In general case no. Inverters may be similar enough from laptop power supply's point of view to be used and screens may be similar enough to be used with the other inverter, but those are things you can't assume to be correct in general case.

Basically, it'll only work if they're identical inverters. (Laptops of similar manufacture and vintage MAY use the same ones but it's doubtful.) – Shinrai Mar 22 '11 at 17:58

To use a car analogy: Would the carburetor of one model car be a good replacement for a broken carburetor in another model car? The answer would generally be no, unless you were a master mechanic, in which case you would know enough not to need to ask the question in the first place.
