As mentioned in the other thread, Tweetdeck is an Adobe Air app, so should run fine on Linux.

I use Adobe Air Application DestroyTwitter. It's lightweight, simple, and works on all platforms, like I do.

You should take a look at Gwibber. It supports other services besides Twitter too. And if you use Ubuntu to can add its PPA for easy installation.

choqok is built for KDE. It can also deal with multiple accounts/sites (like identi.ca)

For Firefox, there's TwitKit and TwitBin, being sidebar apps, should run on XulRunner with little modification.

I've settled on Seesmic Desktop for the time being, despite it being an Adobe Air app (however I also had the constraint that I wanted it to also handle Facebook). Definitely prefer it to Tweekdeck. I also use AllTray to minimise it to the system tray, as it has a funny quirk that if you close the main window, it minimises to the system tray, but then doesn't get new updates (making the program effectively be not running). This is, of course until I write my own app... :-)

I'm using Twhirl at my Ubuntu at home and WXP at work. It's an AIR app, so it just works. You install Air, then download the .air, installs it, and you are ready to go. Cool style, different color sets, and its just one-bar-wide, so it fits nice in my desktop without eating so much space.
