if the version number is not available under the Properties context menu, you are able to install the free 'Dependancy Walker' program from windows. It will show you what dlls a file needs as well as what dlls a dll needs. It will show you version numbers as well as the actual paths to the dlls (in the case that you're having issues and do not know which dll is being used...)

Select the file right click -> properties and in the tab there should be one called version.

Right-click on the dll in explorer, choose properties from context-menu and activate version tab.
