This might seem like a basic question but I want to know why my blackberry phone does not charge when my mac is in standby, hibernate or sleep mode. Is there a way to charge my phone when the mac is in any of the above modes? I generally charge my phone overnight.

This doesn't directly solve your problem, but you should just get a USB power brick. They're cheap and actually really useful to have around. You can plug in ANY device that uses USB to charge. Here's one for 4 bucks, and you can get them way cheaper than that, too. The reason I'm suggesting this is I doubt you'll find a way to get the mac to do exactly what you want. Even if you do, you're better off leaving the settings alone to conserve the battery.

To save power your Mac disconnects the power to the USB ports when in those modes.
