I've had this problem for a while and when I watch videos without a lot of options, I like to pause at certain scenes when I see something interesting. Unfortunately, the context menu in Flash applications has a significant problem: clicking an option has about a 10% success rate. That meaning that, for whatever reason, half the time I click on an option it doesn't do anything. At times I can click it just once, whereas others (and more often) I have to rapidly click the option until it does something. Hovering over options shows no lag or problem at all, and the context menu works perfectly fine everywhere else. Any idea what's up with it and how to fix it? As an alternative, could someone also list the hotkeys (if any) to play, forward, or rewind a flash movie? I've searched for this as well with no relevant results.

Just to be clear, is this on any flash, or just movies/videos? Each site uses its own flash-based video player. So that player could have issues with its customized right click menu. But if it happens with every flash object then I guess that's your end. Got any browser plugins that affect flash? You might try disabling them all just to see if it affects anything. – CreeDorofl Apr 3 '11 at 3:00
It occurs in any swf. I don't have any plugins that should be affecting Flash and the problem persists when I don't have extensions enabled (using Chrome). – Anonymous Apr 3 '11 at 3:13
Does it happen in other browsers or just chrome? – CreeDorofl Apr 3 '11 at 4:43
I've only used Chrome and Firefox, but it's also happened in Firefox when I used to use it. It's been a problem for quite a while, as you can tell. – Anonymous Apr 3 '11 at 4:58
gah, I've got nothing except make sure both flash and video card are updated. When you hover the mouse over the right click menu, do the different values highlight? (not sure if they highlight normally except in windows 7 but on my machine they do) ...also are you bored enough to see if it happens in safe mode? What about running firefox safe-mode, if it's still installed? – CreeDorofl Apr 3 '11 at 5:25
