it seems my WAN has a problem and i was suggested that it will be of help to turn it on?

Open a web browser, enter http://192.168.0.1, and hit enter. The username and password should be admin and admin unless you changed them.

Look around for 'ICMP' or maybe 'Filter Anonymous Internet Requests' in the various areas of configuration.

1. I know about 192.168.0.1 and 2, the reason i asked is because i can't find it there – corroded Apr 10 '11 at 13:33

If you want to enable ICMP on the DIR-600, open your router's configuration and enable WAN Ping on this page:

Advanced -> Advanted Network

Whether or not it will help depends on the problem. If you would like help with that problem (or if enabling ICMP responses did not fix it), feel free to update your question.
