Possible Duplicate:
Windows 7 alt-tab window disappears to back when aero peek is enabled

I have a very annoying problem that appears randomly. Sometimes it works fine sometimes it doesn't. The problem is that the centered thumbnails that appears when alt + tab is pressed stays behind the window preview, so any subsequent press to tab it shows the full screen preview but the thumbnails remains behind it.

In essence, the z-order of the mini-previews is not the top-most. Any hint or way to fix it?

Are you on the latest service pack (SP1) and all the available updates from Microsoft? – Kez Apr 17 '11 at 21:15
I have precisely this problem, and I have SP1 and all updates. It has been like this for quite some time, actually. – Paul Lammertsma Apr 21 '11 at 19:28

I'm gathering information about this issue. Can you tell me, do you happen to have Internet Explorer 9 installed? Also, can you confirm if this issue still happens if you turn off desktop gadgets? (right-click the desktop and turn them off from the View menu to turn them off).

In my limited encounter with this issue so far, it appears that this only happens if you use IE9 and desktop gadgets are displayed. This may not be universal though, and I'm trying to gather information about the issue now.

If you have info to share, we're tracking the issue on the Answers site:

I had this problem far before installing IE9 (beta or release). I don't use desktop gadgets and I have disabled them since before this problem arose. – Paul Lammertsma Apr 21 '11 at 19:29
I'm getting a "thread not found" on the Microsoft Answers page. – Paul Lammertsma Apr 21 '11 at 19:32
Hi Shawn, i have this problem before use IE9. If i kill sidebar.exe the problem is gone. If i launch it again the behaviour remains good after some unknown action that trigger the problem again. Perhaps my attempts to find the cause i can't find that specific action, T_T – mjsr Apr 21 '11 at 22:03

Don't exactly know what causes it, but here's a workaround: Use Win + Tab.
